Glacier at least 75 mi long and 50 mi wide, flowing W into the Filchner Ice Shelf to the N of the Shackleton Range. First seen from the air and mapped by the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (CTAE) in 1956. Named by the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (CTAE) for Marshal of the RAF Sir John Slessor, chairman of the expedition committee.
