Description (see definition): One of the largest known valley glaciers, over 100 mi long, descending the polar plateau and flowing N between the Queen Alexandra and Commonwealth Ranges, to enter the Ross Ice Shelf. Discovered by the British Antarctic Expedition (BrAE) (1907-09) and named for Sir William Beardmore, a supporter of the expedition.
