Description

A sound, 12 mi long in an E-W direction and averaging 2 mi wide, lying between Pourquoi Pas Island and the SW part of Arrowsmith Peninsula, along the W coast of Graham Land. Discovered by the French Antarctic Expedition (FrAE), 1908-10, under Charcot, and named by him for Guillaume Bigourdan, noted French astronomer. It was roughly surveyed by the British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE), 1934-37, under Rymill, and resurveyed by the Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), 1948-50.
