Named by New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee (NZ-APC) on suggestion of New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE) Scott Glacier Party, 1969-70, because the lichen Acarospora emergens Dodge was found on the peak.
