Description: Rocky island, 1.5 mi long, lying 2 mi off the W side of Alexander Island in Lazarev Bay. Probably first seen from the air by the U.S. Antarctic Service (USAS), 1939-41. First mapped from air photos taken by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947-48, by Searle of the Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in 1960. So named by the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) because a distinctive cirque makes a dent, or dint, on the S side of the island.
