Description (see definition): A prominent but somewhat detached snow-covered peak, rising 4.5 mi NE of Steel Peak at the NE end of the Welch Mountains, Palmer Land. Mapped by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1974. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Lieutenant Donald H. Gatlin, U.S. Navy Reserve (USNR), navigator on LC-130 aerial photographic flights during Operation Deep Freeze 1968 and 1969.
