Description (see definition): A mountain range, 40 mi long and 10 mi wide, located NW of Bowman Peninsula and between the Johnston and Irvine Glaciers, in the SE extremity of Palmer Land. The feature was photographed from the air by Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947-48. It was mapped from U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) surveys and U.S. Navy (USN) air photos, 1961-67. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for French naturalist and geologist Jean Etienne Guettard, 1715-86.
