An ice shelf about 40 mi wide, fronting on the coast of Queen Maud Land northward of Giaever Ridge. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE) (1949-52) and named for John E. Jelbart, Australian observer with Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE) who drowned near Maudheim Station on February 24, 1951.
