Rounded, ice-free foothills extending for 12 mi along the W side of the terminus of Scott Glacier, from Mount Salisbury NNW to the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf. First seen and roughly mapped by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (ByrdAE), 1928-30. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Admiral H. Arnold Karo, Director of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, 1955-65.
