Bay 2.5 mi wide which indents the W side of Horseshoe Island, in the NE part of Marguerite Bay. First surveyed in 1936-37 by the British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE) under Rymill. The bay was visited by the USMS North Star and USS Bear of the U.S. Antarctic Service (USAS) in 1940. The name was proposed by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Captain Isak Lystad of the North Star.
