Peak standing at the S side of the mouth of Carbutt Glacier, E of Flandres Bay, on the W coast of Graham Land. The peak appears on an Argentine government chart of 1954. Named by the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) in 1960 for Richard L. Maddox (1816-1902), English physician and pioneer of photography who invented the gelatin emulsion process of dry-plate photography in 1871, revolutionizing photographic technique.
