Chart Number and Edition
Each NOAA chart, with the exception of those that are international charts, has a 5 digit number.
The numbers can be found in the lower left hand corner of paper and raster charts.
Above the chart number is the edition number followed by the month and year that the chart was printed.
Charts printed in 2003 and later show the exact dates that charts were corrected to for corrections published in the USCG Local Notice to Mariners and also in NGA’s U.S. Notice to Mariners.
Mariners should update their charts by applying corrections that appear in those publications after the dates appearing on the chart.
