Lassen Volcanic Center, USA Chaos Crags in the foreground and Lassen Peak in the background are large lava dome complexes in the southern Cascade Range. Chaos Crags consists of a group of five overlapping dacitic lava domes that were erupted a little over 1000 years ago. Lassen Peak was formed about 25,000 years ago, but last erupted during 1914-17.
