A prominent buttress-type mountain (2,460 m) rising 2 mi W of Mount Mentzel in the Gruber Mountains of Queen Maud Land. Discovered and named Bastei (bastion) by the German Antarctic Expedition (GerAE), 1938-39, under Ritscher.
