A narrow pass between the S cliffs of Louis Philippe Plateau and a rock nunatak 2 mi NE of the head of Russell East Glacier, Trinity Peninsula. Mapped from surveys by Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) (1960-61). Named by UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) for Karl Benz (1844-1929), German engineer who constructed the first practical gasoline motor car, in 1885.
