Description (see definition): An ice-filled recession of the coastline, 5 mi wide, between Capes Bage and Webb. Discovered by the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE) (1911-14) under Douglas Mawson, and named by him for G.F. Ainsworth, a member of the expedition who served as leader and meteorologist with the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE) party on Macquarie Island during 1911-13.
