Description (see definition): An isolated black peak (2,170 m) at the E side of the terminus of Jutland Glacier, 8 mi NNE of Thomson Peak, in the NW part of the Victory Mountains of Victoria Land. Named by the northern party of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE), 1963-64, partly for its resemblance to the boss on a shield, its aspect and also as a reminiscence of Sir Ernest Shackleton's nickname.
