A granite peak (1,280 m) 8 mi N of Mount Blowaway in Wilson Hills. First mapped by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Topo West survey party, 1962-63. Named by the northern party of New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE), 1963-64, which occupied the peak as a survey and gravity station. So named by New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE) because the party's first observations of stars were made nearby.
