Island 1 mi long lying in the S part of Errera Channel, off the W coast of Graham Land. Charted by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition (BelgAE) under Gerlache, 1897-99. Surveyed by the Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) from the Norsel in 1955, and named by the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) for Emile Danco (1869-98), Belgian geophysicist and member of the Belgian Antarctic Expedition (BelgAE), who died on board the Belgica in the Antarctic.
