Glacier 15 mi long, flowing eastward into Edward VIII Ice Shelf just north of Wilma Glacier. Part of the glacier was mapped by Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) in 1954 during a sledging journey to Edward VIII Bay led by R. Dovers. Photographed from Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) aircraft in 1956 and named by ANCA for Sergeant G.K. Downer, RAAF, electrical and instrument fitter at Mawson Station in 1958.
