Description
(see definition):
A large ice-covered peninsula which forms the NW extremity of Marie Byrd Land and projects into the Ross Sea between Sulzberger Bay and the NE corner of the Ross Ice Shelf. Discovered on Jan. 30, 1902, by the British National Antarctic Expedition (BrNAE) under Scott, who named it King Edward VII Land for the King of England. Its peninsular character was determined by exploration conducted by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (ByrdAE) (1933-35) and the U.S. Antarctic Service (USAS) (1939-41).
