Island just N of the entrance to Horseshoe Harbor in Holme Bay, Mac. Robertson Land. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photos taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition, 1936-37. Rephotographed by U.S. Navy (USN) OpHjp, 1946-47, and Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) in 1956. So named by Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) because of its position at the entrance to the harbor at Mawson Station.
