A broad ice-covered peninsula which extends into the Bellingshausen Sea between the Abbot and the Venable Ice Shelves. Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1961-66. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Fred C. Fletcher of Boston, a contributor to the U.S. Antarctic Service (USAS), 1939-41.
