Bay, 10 mi long in NW-SE direction and averaging 6 mi wide, between Prospect Point and Black Head along the W coast of Graham land. Discovered by the British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE), 1934-37, and named by Rymill for Prof. Olaf Holtedahl, Norwegian geologist who conducted geologic research during 1927-28 in the South Shetland Islands and the Palmer Archipelago, to which he was transported by various whaling vessels.
