Description

Small bay lying 1.5 mi SW of D'Ursel Point along the E side of Brabant Island, in the Palmer Archipelago. Roughly charted by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition (BelgAE) under Gerlache, 1897-99. Photographed by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. in 1956-57, and mapped from these photos in 1959. Named by the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) for Avicenna (Abu Ali al Hussein abu Abdullah ibn Sina), 980-1037, greatest of the Arabian school of physicians.
