"Gunung Sinagung" is shown above in a photo from September 23, 2013, taken from Gurukinayan village on the south.

It imposing cone rises above farmlands on the Karo Plateau in Northern Sumatra.

Mount Sinabung includes four summit craters, the southernmost of which is the youngest, with many prominent lava flows appearing on the flanks of the volcano.

This image shows prominent lava flows on its flanks and a dramatic summit spine. The summit of Gunung Sinabung is much less frequently visited than neighboring Sibayak volcano to the NE.
